Troy and Chad begin securing options on several large tracts of agricultural land in Loveland, CO, including the purchase of 440 acres of land originally homesteaded by their great-great-grandfather, John Hahn.

Chad and Troy sell 40 acres of land to JMJ Properties for the development of The Outlets at Loveland, working closely with the City of Loveland on infrastructure and entitlement negotiations.

McWhinney develops first corporate headquarters office campus for Factual Data Corporation.

McWhinney develops its first retail center, The Marketplace at Centerra, anchored by Target.

McWhinney, in partnership with the City of Loveland, creates Centerra, a master-planned community encompassing 3,000 acres and miles of contiguous land.

McWhinney develops the world headquarters for Swift and Company, a Fortune 500 corporation, at Promontory in Greeley, CO.

The Promenade Shops at Centerra opens and Co’s BMW opens as the first dealership at The Motorplex at Centerra.

In 2002, Poudre Valley Health System chooses Centerra as the location for its new regional hospital. In 2007, Medical Center of the Rockies, now part of UCHealth, opens as the first and only Level II Trauma Center in northern Colorado.

2008 brings the purchase of 900+ acres of land in Broomfield, CO, that will become the master-planned community of Baseline.

In 2012 McWhinney joins the Union Station Alliance as co-developer and managing member on the renovation of the historic train station in downtown Denver. In July of 2014, McWhinney and the Union Station Alliance reopen the historic train station hub as Denver Union Station.

Great Wolf Resort Southern California opens in Garden Grove, CA.

In 2015, McWhinney begins the redevelopment of downtown Denver’s historic Windsor Dairy into a vibrant, mixed-use project known as Dairy Block, which opened in 2017, with office anchor Prologis and the 172-room boutique hotel, The Maven.

McWhinney develops the Hyatt Place Boston Seaport District, a waterfront hotel with stunning harbor views.

McWhinney acquires the award-winning Austin Proper Hotel in downtown’s Second Street District. Named 2020’s Best New Hotel in America & Canada by Conde Nast Traveler, amenities include a luxurious spa, a rooftop pool and premier dining options.

McWhinney begins revitalizing Foothills Mall, a 663,000 square foot indoor/outdoor mall.
